Saida/Sidon History - Romans Civilizations - 64 B.C. to 106
In year 64 B.C. the Romans invaded Syria, Palestine, Egypt, and the shores of
the Mediterranean sea, including Saida. When the Romans leader Marc Antonios as
the governor of the east, he fall in love with Cleopatra the queen of Egypt, he
gave her all the Syrians cities located between Syria and Egypt, except the
cities of Saida and Sour.
Saida and Sour experienced an era of peace and presperity, ans Saida built a
reputation in scince and knowledge, in addition to what is called "Sibag al
Ourgouane", the famous color that the Phoenicians have invented.
During this period, the name of Sidon or Saidon stated to be known as Saida.
